REAIM 2026

Carlos R. del Blanco took part in the MR2.5 discussion panel titled “Responsible AI in Predictive Maintenance and Logistics for Defence”, held on February 4. The 50-minute panel was moderated by Ignacio Montiel Sánchez and brought together leading experts from the technology, academic, and defence sectors.

In his contribution, the Associate Professor from Grupo de Tratamiento de Imágenes specifically addressed the topic of Predictive Maintenance using Artificial Intelligence, focusing on how AI can be used to identify potential equipment failures at early stages, analyze sensor data, and support timely and proactive maintenance decisions.

Alongside Carlos, the panel featured Matt Alhaery (IBM), Borja Gómez (Oracle), and Gonzalo Santamaría Freire (Isdefe), who provided complementary perspectives on the responsible application of artificial intelligence in maintenance and logistics operations within the defence domain.

The REAIM Summit, organized by the Spanish Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Ministry of Defence, is a leading international forum for discussing ethical principles and the responsible development of AI systems in military applications, bringing together government representatives, international organizations, technology companies, and academia.

Carlos’s participation highlights the group’s commitment to research in applied artificial intelligence and its collaboration with the defence sector on high-technological-impact projects.
