Science diving into new horizons

From the Grupo de Tratamiento de Imágenes, we are thrilled to announce our new collaboration with Parques Reunidos and the Atlantis Aquarium (intu Xanadú, Madrid) as part of the development of the ANEMONA project.

This agreement will allow us to bring our computer vision and behavior analysis technologies to a unique environment like Atlantis, where we can non-invasively study how fish behave and interact with their environment under controlled conditions.

Why does this matter? Because ANEMONA: Beyond Aquaculture 4.0 aims to transform aquaculture into a more sustainable, digital, and intelligent industry. Through artificial intelligence and multimodal data analysis, we analyze video, environmental parameters, and more to:

        • Improve animal welfare and feeding processes
        • Minimize environmental impact
        • Develop new real-time monitoring solutions
        • Understand how factors such as water quality affect fish behavior

This is an interdisciplinary initiative driven jointly with the Electronic and Microelectronic Design Group (GDEM) at UPM, in collaboration with industry partners.

Technology, sustainability, and science outreach go hand in hand in this exciting new challenge. Huge thanks to Parques Reunidos and the Atlantis team for making it possible.
